What are in-the home fully supported family assessment so useful?
Why the home is a preferred environment for assessments.
Our programmes enable children and families to be assessed in a familiar home environment. With families who have children of nursery or school age, it enables them to maintain their current nursery and school, and for the parents to maintain community links, such as to substance misuse and therapeutic services.
The focus on the lived experience of the child within their home environment, community and extended family network. When a negative recommendation is made, this also allows for a smoother transition into a family placement where appropriate, or minimises the number of placements required while permanent carers are identified.

FAQs
What is a Reverse Community Assessment?
A Reverse Community Assessment is a 24hour in the home assessment covering an 8 to 12 week period where a social worker is assigned to the family to observe the parenting skills within the family and provide ongoing in-person observation that forms the comprehensive assessment delivered to the court.
How is the service provided over 24hour period?
The service includes the social worker joining the family home to be a part of daily life centered around the child and the family’s needs. The social worker is trained in observational techniques and fulfils a supportive role in the home as daily life takes place.
What safeguards are in place?
As part of our professional conduct, we fully risk assess the environment and also install CCTV for both safeguarding and assessment purposes. The supportive nature of the programme ensures that movements, actions and behaviour are both monitored and recorded and they may assist with the assessment.
How is the assessment report to the court?
A senior social work compiles the final report(s) for court and this is signed off by the Practice Manager who scrutinises and audits the report prior to submission to ensure the assessment is court ready and includes the relevance, substance and depth that is required during a hearing.
How do you provide interventions, where necessary?
Yes. Each social worker is trained and experienced in intervention techniques and reports directly to a senior social worker with the experience to make decisions that are not only acted upon but recorded and reported to our supervisory team.
